Specification for WebMaster - looking for an experienced developer and Copywriter for working on a number of web products.

We currently have two positions available:

Copywriting

Copywriting will be related to 3 types of content for the sites:-

  1. Writing short 250 word articles about a particular product relating to a keyword that this product can be search for. These articles are quick to write and as long as they make sense, the content is not critical. The objective of these pages is to collect traffic for specific keywords and divert that traffic to product pages. Example of keyword pages:- Eg1 Eg2 Eg3 Eg4
  2. Product descriptions. These are at least 250 words long and have to be very high quality giving the benefits of the product. This copy will go on the product pages its self. Example of well written product description:
  3. Blog Posts: These are very high quality 250 to 500 word articles which need well written intriguing titles to capture reader’s attention and entice them to read the article. These articles will have links to products. Example article

Very basic HTML skills will be required to add links images and check that they work. This can be trained using a video if you don’t already have these skills.

Technologies that will be involved with:-

  • CSS (Must have at least 2 years CSS experience)
  • XHTML
  • Php
  • .ASP (Must have at least 2 years asp experience)
  • Mysql
  • Graphics Design

The sites are based on the following web platforms:-

  • Word press (www.semiologic.com)
    • Most work will involve adding small JavaScript code to pages for sign up forms, ecommerce buy now buttons
    • Changing the look using css
    • Writing simple php pages
    • Adding / updating HTML content pages
    • Resizing images
    • Creating graphics banners for top of sites
  • Vpasp shopping cart (www.vpasp.com)
    • Adding / updating HTML content pages
    • Adding / removing products from database
    • Fixing / updating / adding new .asp functionality
    • Creating graphics for pages
    • Updating the site look using css

The sites will also have www.iContact.com email auto responders. Some sites will have both word press and vpasp installed on the same domain and will have them working together. Vpasp for ecommerce and word press for article and page content.

Typical projects will involve

  1. Installing Word press and setting up basic configuration
  2. Designing graphics for the site banner
  3. Changing the look (colour / font / page size layout) using css
  4. Adding basic content (About Us, Contact Us, Privacy Policy etc)
  5. Creating new content pages and writing 250 to 500 word articles on a theme
  6. Setting up auto responders
  7. Adding JavaScript exit pop ups, tell a friend systems
  8. Testing the site
  9. For ecommerce sites its will also involve
  10. Setting up vpasp ecommerce platform
  11. Adding vpasp add on additional features
  12. Designing graphics for the site banner
  13. Change the look
  14. Add basic category / products to site
  15. Setup payment gateway
  16. Modify / update / add new .asp functionality to vpasp this will require experienced .asp programming knowledge

The company is a fast growing Internet Marketing company based in the UK. Our client list is growing and has a number of internationally recognise brands that we work for. The work all relates to building websites that attract web traffic and convert that traffic into leads (Name, Email, Phone) or ecommerce sales. The pace is fast moving as results of work done on the sites are often tested in days and additional changes improvements put forward to enhance the conversions or drive more traffic.

We are looking for a long term at lease 1 year contractor that will provide these services to us on a full time bases. You will need the following tools:-

  • Broadband connection 512Kb minimum 1Mb ideal
  • MS Office 2003
  • Your favourite web design software
  • Your favourite graphics design software
  • Skype
  • MS Groove 2007

Communication will be via a number of internet based methods:-

Training / Specifications will be provided by internet methods:-

  • CamTasia videos of how to setup configure the sites
  • Live remote desktop sessions
  • Skype

The type of person that this contract will appeal to is:-
